Purpose of the role: The Public Relations Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining the image of Huawei in Angola, manage all relevant communications and public relations functions.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, improve and maintain media relations for both influential mainstream and online media, and ensure positive media coverage of Huawei at all times.
- Reputation management and Develop strategies to actively anticipate and resolve media crisis
- Develop high quality thought leadership tech content for the Managing Director, Senior Huawei Executives and ensure prompt publication in the media. He/She will also be responsible for speech and press release writing.
- Organise events and manage all protocol issues as and when need arises
- Handle Huawei flagship programs such as Seeds for the Future and also ensure active participation of all Huawei ICT Academies in regional competitions such as Huawei ICT competitions.
- Prepare and submit a monthly media coverage report for the PR Director and the Regional office’s attention, and archive and maintain an active media coverage database.
- Prepare and implement a comprehensive PR and Communications Strategy for Angola Country Office
- Develop strategies for stakeholder management and improve Government relations
Experience and educational background required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Public Relations and Policy Management, or Public Administration related qualification will be advantageous.
- Proven working experience in Public Relations and Communications management and experience in developing PR and Communication strategies and campaigns
- Demonstrate strong writing, editing and content development skills
- Proven experience and good knowledge in Government relations
- Strong relationships management and excellent proven media relations skills
- Extensive knowledge of Angola media, with vast media contacts, as well as comprehensive knowledge of the media sector, including broadcast, online, print and social media
- Up to date with current trends in the ICT sector
- Good journalistic skills with a keen eye for relevant current affairs
